THE GETAWAY CAR

While there are many old school wedding traditions Viva has been happy to see disappear, the getaway car is not one of them. Okay, we should be specific. The time honoured tradition of the wedding party sneaking out during the reception to toilet paper the bride and groom’s car, wrap it in cellophane and fill the air vents with confetti is not what we’re talking about. Having an actual getaway car is.

A common past tradition, wedding guests would gather outside to officially send off the bride and groom earlier in the evening and then continue to enjoy the reception without them. When newlyweds decided to ditch the early exit, choosing instead to party the night away with their guests and often being the last to leave, the getaway car became obsolete.

Well Viva’s happy to report it’s making a comeback! Newlyweds aren't necessarily leaving their reception early, but after exchanging vows they definitely have a car to drive away in with the Just Married decor to prove it. We wonder if Will & Kate having their own getaway car had something to do with it.

Giselle in Ireland.

Rionnach sent me these lovely photos of her April wedding in Ireland. The bride wore "Giselle" (with a dear little pink cardigan). Isn't she gorgeous?

Dear friends,

Floral prints are always a favourite of mine, especially throughout the winter months, as they add just the perfect splash of colour to dark and dreary days.

I've had a lovely time in Hamilton Island and am now looking forward to a long weekend visit to Sydney with new friends and old.

Love Ellie's photos of her wearing the Alençon lace shrug. Plus, as readers of this blog know, I do like a horse.

Dear friends,

What's not to love about bows!

This outfit combines my love of not only pretty bows, but also vintage dresses!

The suede-like aqua blue skirt is lovely to the touch, and colour splashed blouse is true vintage perfection wouldn't you agree.

Dear friends,

As the full Melbourne chill sets in, I'm very happy to be packing up this weekend and heading to sunny far north Queensland for a well earned rest.

First port of call will be to dust of my bikini (also seen here) and take a dip in crystal blue waters set amongst gorgeous tropical surroundings.

To my International friends, ramping up for the summer, check out the beautiful range of swimwear from my friends at Sunburn Australia.

For my Aussie friends, trying to brave the cold, Sunburn Australia also stock perfect trans-seasonal pieces to get you through the cooler months, the Seafolly Autumn/Winter collection have some lovely winter pieces.

This will be my first visit to Hamilton Island and I absolutely can't wait.

Bon voyage!

For the birds.

Elyse is laughing in almost every single one of her wedding photos, and she certainly didn't let a little birdseed in her hair ruin her day. Lovely and happy in Oysters & Pearls. Thanks, Elyse!

A bit of ruffle.

One of my ruffle boleros dressed up Heather's wedding. I love a girl who knows how to pop her collar.

Dear friends,

The last couple of weeks I've been busy shopping up a storm online.

Allow me to introduce to you, two of my most recent wardrobe acquisitions: this beautiful lace-up silk tunic and incredible William Rast double zip platform boots.

This very special tunic, features so many lovely details from the Nordic-inspired moose print, to shoulder cut-outs, to the leather lace-up front and is created by the Australian label Guanabana.

I picked this up from the online store, A Little Left of Centre, which is the go to spot for original Australian design.

The boots, from another of my online favourites, DJ Premium, are the most perfect soft brown leather and despite sporting a sky-high 5.5" heel, are surprisingly comfortable. My ultimate winter boot!

Watch this

Dear friends,

Lately all things retro, from fashion, to photography, to music have taken hold of me and watches are no exception.

I picked this gold beauty up from UK brand Breo, who produce one of the most extensive ranges of time pieces I've seen.

Their colour range is out of this world, but what's best is that this luminex model, cost less than $55 (seriously)!

Digging the 80's vibe, all that's missing is a calculator. Back to the future here I come!

INSPIRATION - LET IT RAIN, LET IT RAIN, LET IT RAIN

"Find some fun rain boots, colorful umbrellas, and show the rain who’s boss". Those were our words of wisdom in our last post should you be faced with rain on your wedding day. Now here's a little inspiration to help you do just that!
